A lock that sticks, spins, or broke? We repair it, or fit a new one when it is past saving.
Repair it or replace it?
Plenty of locks only need a cleaning, a new spring, or a strike plate moved so the bolt lines up again. When the body is worn or cracked, a new lock is the honest answer. We look at it with you and say what we would do on our own door.
When people call us for this
- The key turns hard, or only at one angle.
- The deadbolt misses the hole in the frame.
- The cylinder spins and nothing happens.
- The knob or lever came loose or fell off.
- You want a better lock than the one the last tenant left.
What locks do you fit?
Deadbolts, mortise locks, knob and lever sets, and high security cylinders. We carry hardware from brands like Schlage, Yale, Medeco, and Sargent at the shop and fit the lock to your door.
How do I start?
Walk in with the old cylinder if you have it, call, or text a photo of the lock and the door edge. You get a written quote before any work starts.
What happens on the visit?
We come out from the shop with the parts your call or your photo told us to bring. Before we touch anything we show you what is worn, bent, or broken, then we do the work and test every lock and every key with you before we go. If the door itself needs something, we say so and you decide.
Frequently asked
Can I keep my current keys?
If we repair the lock, your keys keep working. If we replace it, we cut new keys at the shop and hand them to you with the lock.
Do you fix old locks in frame houses?
Yes. Old mortise locks are common on Greenpoint doors, and we repair them when the parts are still good.
